A Catalyst for Postive Change

A Catalyst for Positive Change

Osborne County is facing many of the problems common to rural communities today, declining population, instability in the local economic base, and the potential loss of basic services such as schools, health care, and retail outlets just to name a few.

The Kansas Blue Hills Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community foundation established specifically to help Osborne County citizens develop creative responses to these challenges and to assist groups and individuals in putting these new ideas into action.

The Foundation is serving as a catalyst for positive change throughout Osborne County in a variety of ways.

*  By issuing grants to qualified applicants for innovative projects that provide educational, cultural, and spiritual development opportunities for Osborne County residents from the income generated by the KBHF Endowment Fund.

*  By encouraging mentoring programs for entrepreneurial and leadership development in the county.

*  By creating a countywide Endowment Fund to encourage community reinvestment that will help slow the dramatic outflow of wealth from the area as estates are distributed to non-resident heirs.

*  By assisting groups and individuals to apply for grant funding from other local, state, and national charitable foundations.

*  By allowing qualified civic and community groups who affiliate with KBHF to come under its 501(c)(3) non-profit status, giving them access to technical and research support resources offered by the foundation.
