Kansas Blue Hills Foundation

A Catalyst for Postive Change

 Our Mission

The mission of the Kansas Blue Hills Foundation
is to be an innovative leader in supporting and
promoting activities that foster economic, social,
and spiritual growth for the citizens of Osborne
County in the following ways:

*****
By empowering individuals, businesses,
organizations, and government entities to secure
grants for community projects.

*****
By establishing an endowment fund for the purpose
of issuing grants to qualified applicants residing in
or serving Osborne County.

*****
By assisting affiliate organizations to maximize
their effectiveness through a pooling of
financial resources.

*****
By giving full credit and glory to God for His
provision of resources to meet our individual
and collective needs.

The Vision
of the
Kansas Blue Hills Foundation
is to enhance opportunities,
provide services, enrich lives,
and improve the quality of life
of the people living in
Osborne County.

 Wealth Retention

Over the next ten years, billions of dollars
will transfer out of Osborne County due to:

(1) The death of residents whose relatives
      live outside of the county,
(2) Businesses closing with no successor, and
(3) The out-migration of our youth.

A major reason for establishing the Kansas
Blue Hills Foundation Endowment Fund is
to retain some of this wealth within Osborne County.
Donors will have the opportunity to give to this
endowment fund through estate planning,
memorials, and gifts.

Contributions to the foundation are tax deductible
to the fullest extent of the law.

                    A Brief History

In the past 5 years we have seen a steady increase in an interest to improve the economic, social, and environmental conditions in Osborne County. Toward these goals, Osborne County Tourism Inc. (OCT) was created in 2001 to encourage communication between the communities and to provide a greater awareness of the county’s history. Then, in 2003, Osborne County Growth and Preservation, Inc. (G&P) was created to encourage cooperation between the various governmental entities in the county.

In the last five years two dynamic not-for-profit corporations have emerged, with help and guidance from OCT and G&P; Alton’s Bull City Cultural Foundation and the Natoma Heritage Seekers organization. The Bull City Community Foundation has successfully started a Café in Alton and the Natoma Heritage Seekers Corporation has received, as gifts, two buildings; the Pohlman building to be used as a museum and the Natoma Presbyterian Church.   Natoma also has two Bed and Breakfasts that have opened during the past few months.

The next logical step was to create the Kansas Blue Hills Foundation as a mechanism to stimulate and coordinate the growth being generated as a result of these activities, and to provide financial resources through grant writing and a countywide Endowment Fund.
